Who are we?

Our History and Facility

Founded in 1976, Pisces Swimming Academy was created from a vision to overcome political and economic hurdles, establishing a crucial center for aquatic safety. We operate a fully-equipped, heated 20m pool facility, providing transport and comprehensive lessons to approximately 800 pupils from over two dozen local schools. The Academy stands as a testament to making quality swimming accessible.

Community Reach and Development

We coordinate one of the nation’s most extensive “learn to swim” programs, actively training instructors and extending water safety campaigns to underserved communities. Through the affiliated Pisces Swimming Club, we cultivate elite talent with year-round training and vital surf safety programs. This enduring commitment is driven by Head Coach Eddie Meth’s lifelong dedication to aquatic development.

Pioneering Achievements

Pisces has been a key force in transforming South African swimming, achieving many historical “firsts.” These include producing national leaders and the first Black Coach to achieve national gold-medal success (Eddie Meth). Our contributions have shaped the national aquatic landscape, establishing Pisces as a champion for change and a proven developer of future swimming stars.
